Razorfish Subnetwork Enters San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

NEW YORK April 23, 1998- Razorfish announced today that The Razorfish Subnetwork (RSUB) is being added to the permanent collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).

"This is a great honor, one of the most exciting we've ever received," commented Craig M. Kanarick, creative director of RSUB. "It's also a testament to our efforts to define how digital media is designed and how digital art is curated and exhibited."

The site will be added to the collection over the summer. Once there, it will be used for special exhibitions and rotated into exhibitions. It will also be made available for scholarly research.

Aaron Betsky, curator of SFMOMA , commented, " What interests me is how the technologies, ranging from the various Java applets, to Shockwave, to XTML, have come together to create a graphic environment that could exist only in the dynamic Web environment. RSUB is a world that mixes static and dynamic forms, that layers texts, images and abstract fields in seemingly random ways, giving force to the messages they collectively display."

RSUB is the home of seven award-winning, original, and distinct sites created specifically for the World-Wide Web including: The Blue Dot, typoGRAPHIC, Bunko!, This Girl, TheNvelope and disinformation. RSUB pushes the limits of creative technology while distilling information, developing new processes, and providing engaging, enlightening entertainment experiences to its visitors.

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art exists to collect, preserve, present, and interpret the best of contemporary and modern art for the purpose of enriching people's lives through aesthetic and learning experiences.
