Razorfish Studios Ramps Up with New Projects in '98

March 30, 1998 (NEW YORK) - Amidst the collapse of a number of high-profile entertainment sites on the World-Wide Web, Razorfish Studios announces a number of new projects being developed and released in 1998.

"Studios has its roots in the digital medium," stated Michael Simon, President of Razorfish Studios. "But the company's guiding philosophy is that ideas will be produced in a variety of formats including print, audio, movies, and digital."

Razorfish Studios' primary activity in digital media is RSUB, The Razorfish Subnetwork. When launched in May of 1997, RSUB received accolades across the board. A year later, the highly trafficked site continues to gather awards and critical acclaim. The site, which was recently invited to be part of the permanent collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, features seven titles including "the blue dot", "Bunko!" and "Disinformation."

"Razorfish Studios is in the ideas business," commented Jeff Dachis, CEO of Razorfish. "We produce, acquire, and distribute ideas as information and entertainment across a wide range of media. We're extremely happy with RSUB, but that's not all we do."

RSUB will be relaunched this May at Razorfish's second annual (and now infamous) "May Day" party. Also planned for May is the debut release of a newly signed Razorfish Studios' recording artist, to be followed up this fall with a new project by photographer Danny Clinch.

"Razorfish Studios is committed to creating compelling, enlightening, and emotional experiences. We work with artists to allow them to make their statements in a full spectrum of expression," explains Craig Kanarick, Chief Creative Officer of Razorfish Studios. "We look at Studios essentially as an attempt to capture the human spirit."

The management of Razorfish Studios includes Jeff Dachis and Craig Kanarick, founders of Razorfish, Inc., one of the most successful strategic digital communications businesses in the industry. President Michael Simon adds to the diverse staff with his background in artist and entertainment management and major label business affairs. Staff Producers Lisa Shimamura and Carah von Funk round off the mix with backgrounds in publishing and film. Ms. Shimamura joins the staff from Razorfish, Inc., prior to that she worked at The Monacelli Press. Ms. von Funk joins Studios having worked at Kadokawa Productions and the Samuel Goldwyn Company before starting her own production company.

Razorfish Studios produces original entertainment and educational experiences across all media and all platforms including digital products such as World-Wide Web sites, Web-based games, computer screen savers, fonts, and more traditional media including books, films, film titles, and audio recordings. Razorfish Studios is an affiliate of Razorfish, Inc., a strategic digital communications firm with locations in New York City, London, and San Francisco.
