Razorfish Studios and Gurl Develop the Gurl Palace

New York City, March 2, 1998 - Razorfish Studios (http://studios.razorfish.com) announced today the launch of The gURL Palace created in conjunction with gURL (http://www.gurl.com). The Palace, a graphical chat environment, was developed by the two organizations and can be found on gURL.com, a content and community Web site for teenage girls.

Under the creative direction of gURL's founders, Rebecca Odes and Esther Drill and their partner, Heather McDonald, Razorfish Studios has collaborated with gURL to produce the gURL Palace in the spirit of gURL.com.

"gURL Palace fills two basic needs of this audience, self-expression and communication, in a space that extends the look and feel of our site. Razorfish was an ideal partner - their innovative organization made it possible for us to produce this unique entertainment space for teenage girls." said Rebecca Odes, Creative Director of gURL.

The gURL Palace is a highly interactive environment which allows members of the gURL connection to communicate beyond the possibilities of text-only chat. gURL Palace users are represented visually and are able to dress up in thousands of body configurations and outfits. In addition to chat, visitors can play with sound, collaborative poetry, and drawing. The chat environment extends the gURL brand and builds community, providing a unique space for the many existing and future gURL members.

"It was great to work with gURL, a fun, creative, and very talented group," said Razorfish Chairman, Craig Kanarick. "The Palace is a perfect extension of their already strong offerings, allowing their members to interact in a vibrant and stimulating atmosphere. We have full confidence that this will be the premier destination for teenage girls on the Web, and it's an honor to be associated with them."

The gURL Web site was founded at New York University's Interactive Telecommunications Program and has been the recipient of numerous awards including the I.D. Magazine award for Interactive Media and the 1997 New York Magazine award. In December 1997, gURL was acquired by dELiA*s Inc. (Nasdaq:DLIA), a leading direct marketer of casual apparel and related accessories to teen girls and young women (http://www.delias.com).

Razorfish Studios produces original entertainment and educational experiences across all media and all platforms including digital products such as World-Wide Web sites, Web-based games, computer screen savers, fonts, and more traditional media including books, films, film titles, and audio recordings.
