Exclusive Distribution Agreement for US and Canada Signed

(New York) July 26, 1999 -- Razorfish Studios, Inc. today announced that it has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Consortium Book Sales and Distribution, Inc., the independent publishing and distribution service headquartered in Minnesota. Under the terms of the agreement, Consortium will become the exclusive US and Canadian distributor for Razorfish Studios, effective as of June 1, 1999.

"We are pleased to join the ranks of quality publishers distributed by Consortium," said Michael Simon, president of Razorfish Studios. "This deal ensures our ability to provide the widest possible audience for our artists and creative works."

Among Razorfish Studios' published works to date is the hardcover edition of Discovery Inn: The Photographs of Danny Clinch. This acclaimed collection of photographs of musicians shot over the past decade features such artists and groups as Radiohead, the Beastie Boys, Tony Bennett, Pearl Jam, and Johnny Cash. Consortium will distribute a paperback edition starting this fall.

In the past month, Consortium began distributing the most recent work of Razorfish Studios artist Ryan McGinness. McGinness's new book, flatnessisgod, co-published by Razorfish Studios and Soft Skull Press, explores the basic practice of seeing and constructing the second dimension. The pages of the book contain studies, experiments, logo developments, layouts, paintings, New York City graffiti converted into corporate logos, art haiku, and mistranslated text from Japanese candy wrappers.

"The superb books and services that Consortium Book Sales and Distribution offers to the trade are a perfect match for such a progressive company," said Randall Beek, President of Consortium. "We are proud to be representing books from the most vital and interesting artists today, now including those of Razorfish Studios."
